Description Clear Coating Epoxy Resin is a water clear, UV stable, low viscosity resin. It is a solvent free epoxy specifically formulated as a clear, ultra-high gloss coating system that will self-level and cure at room temperature. It has excellent air-release and has been optimised for extended UV stability. Applications: This low odour Epoxy Resin is ideal for coating, doming and resin art applications. Clear Coating Epoxy Resin is only suitable for embedding, casting or coating more than 1cm thick. Bubbles are not an issues for coating applications.  There will be micro bubbles in castings more than 1.5mm thickness (refer to photos). You can have these bubbles as a feature in your castings or colour the resin to mask the micro bubbles.   We recommend our Bio Casting Epoxy Resin for thicker castings. Do not attempt to control the cure time by altering the hardener ratio. Please note that the room temperature will affect cure characteristics. Details Pot Life – 100g @ 25ºC (in air): 38 minutes Thin Film Tack Free Time @ 25ºC: 7 hours Thin Film Open Time @ 25ºC: 40 – 60 minutes Cured to Solid State @ 25ºC: 24 hours Shore ‘D’ Hardness 24h@ambient 16h@40ºC: 76 Easy clean up with Isopropyl Alcohol or Acetone.  Use Opaque, Translucent, Mica Powder or Pearlex pigments to colour resin When purchasing 20L & 40L sizes we recommend adding a Bung Tap to your order to make pouring easier. Application Ensure surfaces are dry and free from contaminants. Use two clean plastic containers of equal volume to measure the correct proportion of resin and hardener. Pour the contents of both into a larger container and stir the two ingredients thoroughly, for at least 3 minutes –longer in cooler temperatures. Tip the mixed resin and hardener into a second large container and thoroughly mix again for a further 1-2 minutes. Take care to stir the material slowly so air entrapment is kept to a minimum. Clear Coating Epoxy Resin may be directly poured or brushed onto a surface and will self level to produce a very high gloss. For best results apply at temperatures between 15ºC and 30ºC, and at below 85 percent humidity. Air bubble release is greatly enhanced by the use of a small heat gun or mini gas torch. Hold the torch approximately 100 to 150mm off the surface and keep moving the flame across the surface. Heat can be applied as many times as needed in the 38 minute working time. Inspect and remove any lint with tweezers. Clear Coating Epoxy Resin Epoxy should be cured in a warm 25°C, dust free area. Clear Coating Epoxy Resin is not to be thinned under any circumstances, as it has been formulated to optimal viscosity for this specific application.
